Dr. Antonio Loro


•    He has a degree in medicine and surgery at the University of Studies of Padua, Italy
•    He specialized in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Studies of Verona, Italy

Work experience
•    He has vast experience in the field of Orthopaedic surgery having worked in different hospitals in Italy and East Africa for over 20 years,
•    He worked as the director of the Orthopaedic Department of Dodoma Regional Hospital in Tanzania from 1986-1992

Dr. Nyiiro Francisco

•    MMed- Orthopaedic Surgery, Makerere University-Kampala
•    Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellow from University of Toronto
•    Fellow of College of Surgeons (Ortho) from College of Surgeons East, Central and Southern Africa
•    Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Makerere University-Kampala

Work experience
•    Currently he is in charge of research & heads the Department of Orthopaedic surgery at CoRSU
•    He has vast experience in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery for over 14 years in hospitals in and outside Uganda and has training in Arthroplasty & Hip fixation and Principles of Operative Fracture Management
•    He is also licensed by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council, Kenya Medical and Dental Board, Afghanistan Medical Board, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Ethiopia Medical and Dental Practitioners council

Dr. Muhumuza Moses Fisha


•    He studied surgery and medicine from Makerere and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MMed, Orthopaedic surgery & MBChB)

Work experience
•    He has trained in Principles in Operative Fracture Management, Total hip and knee arthroplasty and is a Member of the Uganda Dental and Medical Practitioners Council & Uganda Orthopaedic Association.
•    He is also an affiliate of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa

Dr. Paul Muwa


•    He studied surgery and medicine from Mbarara University of Science and Technology
•    He is also an affiliate of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa

Work experience
He has work experience of more than ten years working in different hospitals in Uganda, including Mbarara, Mengo and  Mulago hospitals



Dr. Robert Lapyem Ayella  

•    MMed-Orthopaedic Surgery, Makerere University- Kampala
•    M.B.Ch.B Bachelor’s Degree (Mbarara University of Science and Technology)
•    Orthopaedic Clinical Fellowship-Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Medicine Faculty of Medical Sciences, the University of Fukui, Japan

Work experience
•    He worked as a Medical Specialist at United Nations-African Union Joint Mission in Darfur (UNAMID)-Sudan and has worked as an Orthopaedic surgeon in many hospitals in Uganda where he has earned more than three years of experience in Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery.
•    He has additional training in Travel Medicine conducted by University of Liverpool and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. 


Department of Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. George William Galiwango


•    He is a graduate of Makerere University in MBChB
•    A Fellow of the College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa, FCS Plast - (ECSA)

Work experience
•    He is the current head of Plastic & Reconstructive surgery department
•    His interest and special expertise include general plastic & reconstructive surgery, microsurgery, hypospadias surgery, cleft surgery and head & neck surgery particularly mandibular reconstruction
•    He also worked at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor before training in Plastic & reconstructive surgery


Dr. Andrew Hodges

•    Trained and qualified as Doctor of medicine (MB ChB) in Birmingham UK.
•    Trained in General surgery in UK (FRCS)
•    Further training and qualification in Plastic Surgery in UK (FRCS plast) 

 Work experience
•    He is currently practicing wide range of Plastic Surgery with particular interest in reconstruction including microsurgery, hand surgery and cleft surgery
•    He was a consultant plastic surgeon with CBM at Mengo hospital, then CoRSU


Department of Anaesthesia

Dr. Sarah Hodges


  • MB ChB Liverpool University
  • Diploma in Anaesthesia College of anaesthetists UK
  • FRCA (Fellow of the Royal College of anaesthetists)

Work Experience:   
Currently she is the Head of Anaesthetic department at CoRSU hospital.
She was Director of Anaesthesia, ICU, Theatres, Accident and Emergency at IHK.
She has had vast experience in this field for more than 15 years in different hospitals in Uganda.


Department of Physiotherapy

Christine Tusiime


  • She has a Master of Science (Physical Therapy) from the University of The Western Cape, South Africa.
  • She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Physical Therapy from the same university.
  • Higher Diploma in Physical Therapy from Mulago Paramedical Institute Uganda. She is a member of the Uganda Association of Physiotherapists, Allied Health Professionals Council (Uganda) and Health Professions council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Work Experience
She has experience of working at different rehabilitation centres since 2003. Currently she is the head of Allied health services at CoRSU. She works with a team of physical and occupational therapists and a psychologist.
